Fellowes Office Suites Underdesk Keyboard Drawer, Black/Silver (9140303) Review

Fellowes Office Suites Underdesk Keyboard Drawer, Black/Silver (9140303)

I bought this keyboard tray so I could get my keyboard off the top of the desk (naturally). Overall, it does the job just barely well enough for me to not have ripped it out and installed a different one.
Pros:
- The mounting for the keyboard portion is reasonably solid
- The mouse pad can be set for left- or right-handed use
- It's an OK value for the money
Cons:
- The installation is difficult and badly documented. You need to be somewhat handy in order to follow the picture-only instructions. There are a number of key details of the installation that are *NOT* documented, and you need to figure them out for yourself.
- The keyboard tray is OK, but on the flimsy side.
- The mouse extension is *very* weak. If, like me, you use an oversize keyboard that takes up the entire keyboard tray portion you are forced to use the mouse tray. I can feel the mouse tray bending under my hand with every use. Frankly, I'm scared to put the full weight of my hand and arm on it because I'm afraid it will snap off.
Overall, I'm sure that there are better choices out there, and I suggest you find one of them.

Kensington Underdesk Adjustable Keyboard Platform with Wrist Rest (K60067) Review

Kensington Underdesk Adjustable Keyboard Platform with Wrist Rest (K60067)
Average Reviews:

I liked the size & price of this product. It fits a full sized keyboard & mouse/trackball with relative ease. The wrist rest was a nice surprise. It's not as cheap as I thought it might end up being. The mouse pad however, is. Though that's not my gripe with this thing. As I said before, it's nice & big. Seems to attach to the underside of a desk rather sturdily also. The left & right swivels are nice & make things convenient. The tilt works nice, the lock to control it works nice as well. it slides in to tuck away completely, as long as you install it far enough back. This thing is wide & can be very long when pulled out completely. All good traits in my book. The only downside to this product is that it hinges all it's support in the middle of the tray, making the platform quite wobbly. It doesn't feel weak or unstable, just wobbly. Other than that, it's a fantastic product for the price. If I could give it 4 & a half stars I would.

I purchased two of these mats in March of 2009. About a year and a half later both mats have developed several cracks. I use these mats on a medium pile carpet that's approx. 1/2" thick. My chairs use five casters and I weigh about 220lbs. I don't know if I've misused the product but I don't feel that I have. In addition to the cracks, I've always felt that the grippers on the mat don't grip well enough because my mat moves around and I need to fix the placement of my mats a couple times a week. I give this product only 1 star because of the cracks. Otherwise I would have rated this product 4 stars.

Fellowes Deluxe Keyboard Drawer with Soft Touch Wrist Rest (8031207) Review

Fellowes Deluxe Keyboard Drawer with Soft Touch Wrist Rest (8031207)

Although the tray is plastic the rails are metal and it seems sturdy. The product provides a reasonably firm surface. The installation was easy with a power screwdriver drill bit - there are a lot of wood screws to install as one would expect and sturdiness demands they go in all the way. The mouse tray slides out from beneath the keyboard tray and has a nice fabric pad on it rather than the rubbery stuff that degrades quickly.

Innovera Standard Desktop Keyboard Drawer, 20-5/8 X 10, Light Gray Review

Innovera Standard Desktop Keyboard Drawer, 20-5/8 X 10, Light Gray

This desktop keyboard tray is perfect to get your keyboard out of the way when you are not using it. I have 2 on my desk at work and I have the "normal" metal work desk with small drawer in the middle and drawers on both sides so you have no where to put a "hanging" keyboard tray.
The tray is well built with a metal frame/support and plastic tray. I have had both CRT's and flat pannel monitors on them with NO ISSUES!!!! The tray stays in place and does not slide around the desk when you pull the keyboard out. It has plenty of room for the biggest of keyboards as well as 2 spaces in the front for a pen or Sharpie and another for screws, change or whatever!!
These also help get your monitor to the right level for viewing.
These trays do exactly what they are ment to do and they do it well, I have been using 1 of the 2 for several years, having just bought the second for a computer/keyboard that I have on a desk to the side of me. I liked the first so much that I bought another........ that should say it all!!!!
Hope this helps!!!

Fellowes Professional Executive Adjustable Keyboard Tray (8035901) Review

Fellowes Professional Executive Adjustable Keyboard Tray (8035901)

Like other reviewers have mentioned, you must check the dimensions before buying this item as it is very long. You will need 25 inches to mount the glide track under your desk properly. As long as you meet this requirement you'll also be able to hide your keyboard under your desk. The keyboard platform can slide in and out of the track as needed and comes with a thick layer of heavy grease to allow it to slide back and forth easily. It takes a little effort to push down the tray and hold it under the desk long enough for it to slide underneath. It also takes some effort to use the tilt slider to tilt the keyboard up and down. Most people should be able to handle this but seniors with weakness or arthritis may struggle with it.
I trust the judgment of Fellowes for the positioning, but the tilt of the keyboard takes a little adjustment as it seems to tilt the keyboard slightly upward even at it's zero setting. It gives the impression that you are reaching down to type. Southpaws will be happy to know the circular mouse platform will mount on either side of the platform. It's a nice feature as I like being able to switch sides with my mouse to help reduce the chances of carpal tunnel. The mouse platform can also be removed entirely if you are unable to meet the width requirements. You will need 29 inches of total width to fit both the keyboard and mouse platform underneath your desk. In addition, keep in mind you will need about 23 inches of width from the left edge of where the glide track is mounted to the right edge of the mouse platform (and vice-versa). If you have cabinets, a desk leg, or a computer near your planned mounting space you will need to keep this in mind.
My only gripe is with the keyboard platform which is, in my opinion, too small for today's larger keyboards. I own an old Microsoft Internet Keyboard with a few multimedia and Internet buttons at the top which fits fine in the keyboard tray, however larger, ergonomic keyboards like the Microsoft Natural or Logitech Wave don't fit as well. As an example, I have a Microsoft Wireless 6000 which is too wide to fit comfortably on the tray. I will need to remove one of the two guide tracks for the mouse pad at which point it will hang off the edge slightly. This is a disappointment to me as I figure people who buy this item are concerned about ergonomics and may likely have one of these larger keyboards. For this reason I'm knocking off a star. Just keep in mind you will likely have problems if you have a keyboard longer than 12 inches or wider than 18-1/2 inches. A keyboard no longer than nine inches is ideal.
Most desks built today seem stuck in the last century so a good, ergonomic keyboard tray is a must. As long as you meet these dimensional requirements, both for the guide track and the keyboard, you will have a solid, well-built keyboard tray that I expect will last you many years.
