Altra Furniture Modern Mission Desk, Chocolate Wenge Review

Altra Furniture Modern Mission Desk, Chocolate Wenge

This is a case of you get what you pay for. The preassembled parts of the desk fit loosely and have gaps. The "wood grain" is a thin plastic film over particle board that arrived peeling off, and that shows scratches even from being wiped with a damp cloth. The poor-quality screws stripped out easily. The best thing about the desk was that assembly was easy, and it has nice lines. Unfortunately though, it won't last long and will need to be replaced.

Catch up on correspondence, whether using the archaic pen and paper or typing an e-mail, at this attractive desk from Altra Furniture. With its spacious 53-inch wide desktop, the desk provides ample space for a desktop computer, a printer, a desk lamp, and more. Extra thick vertical panel book-ended by slim pickets decorate the center of each end of the desk and the backside in a classic Mission style. Sleek with a rich chocolate wenge finish, the desk fits into modern and traditional décor alike.
The desk is crafted out of engineered wood with paper laminate, which helps conserve forest lands. To further minimize the desk's potential negative ecological impact, Altra Furniture's construction process reduces the toxic emissions released into the environment. A sliding keyboard tray extracts from underneath the desktop, with extra space for a mouse and more. Upon delivery, the desk requires home assembly with common household tools. To complement the desk, a matching bookcase and file are available separately. Altra Furniture also offers this desk in a natural birch finish. Assembled, the desk measures 53 inches wide by 23-2/3 inches deep by 30 inches high. This item weighs 81 pounds upon shipping.

Waterloo Premium Arm, Keyboard Tray & Mouse Tray Package Black Review

Waterloo Premium Arm, Keyboard Tray and Mouse Tray Package Black

If you are looking at keyboard trays then you know that there are plenty of products to chose from with pricing ranging from $29-$500 or more. This one is priced around $100, and is of the highest quality that I have tried. I had one of the earlier models from the same manufacturer, and recognized this by its picture. I bought 9 of them for the workstations in my office, after having bought and returned the Ken****ton ones that cost about the same price, but are made of cheap flimsy plastic. This is made of sturdy composite materials and metal. Mouse tray slides out either side and is also sturdy. Hands down the best value out there

Kensington Underdesk Comfort Keyboard Drawer with SmartFit System, Extra Wide, Includes Wrist Rest (K60004US) Review

Kensington Underdesk Comfort Keyboard Drawer with SmartFit System, Extra Wide, Includes Wrist Rest (K60004US)

As basic keyboard drawers go, this one is certainly adequate -- but no more. It's relatively sturdy, operates smoothly and installs fairly easily. But it does have some shortcomings to consider.
1. The space for your mouse is very small. If you need to move the cursor from one side of the screen to the other, there just isn't enough room move your mouse in that big of an arc.
2. The drawer does not lock into position. If you bump it with your stomach, it will move in, which can be annoying.
3. I wish it had a bigger range of height adjustment. The full range is only an inch and a half. In practical terms it's even less, because at its upper limit (closest to the desk bottom), there wouldn't be room for the mouse.

Fellowes Deluxe Keyboard Drawer with Soft Touch Wrist Rest (8031207) Review

Although the tray is plastic the rails are metal and it seems sturdy. The product provides a reasonably firm surface. The installation was easy with a power screwdriver drill bit - there are a lot of wood screws to install as one would expect and sturdiness demands they go in all the way. The mouse tray slides out from beneath the keyboard tray and has a nice fabric pad on it rather than the rubbery stuff that degrades quickly.

Innovera Standard Desktop Keyboard Drawer, 20-5/8 X 10, Light Gray Review

Innovera Standard Desktop Keyboard Drawer, 20-5/8 X 10, Light Gray
Average Reviews:

This desktop keyboard tray is perfect to get your keyboard out of the way when you are not using it. I have 2 on my desk at work and I have the "normal" metal work desk with small drawer in the middle and drawers on both sides so you have no where to put a "hanging" keyboard tray.
The tray is well built with a metal frame/support and plastic tray. I have had both CRT's and flat pannel monitors on them with NO ISSUES!!!! The tray stays in place and does not slide around the desk when you pull the keyboard out. It has plenty of room for the biggest of keyboards as well as 2 spaces in the front for a pen or Sharpie and another for screws, change or whatever!!
These also help get your monitor to the right level for viewing.
These trays do exactly what they are ment to do and they do it well, I have been using 1 of the 2 for several years, having just bought the second for a computer/keyboard that I have on a desk to the side of me. I liked the first so much that I bought another........ that should say it all!!!!
Hope this helps!!!

Fellowes Professional Executive Adjustable Keyboard Tray (8035901) Review

Fellowes Professional Executive Adjustable Keyboard Tray (8035901)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like other reviewers have mentioned, you must check the dimensions before buying this item as it is very long. You will need 25 inches to mount the glide track under your desk properly. As long as you meet this requirement you'll also be able to hide your keyboard under your desk. The keyboard platform can slide in and out of the track as needed and comes with a thick layer of heavy grease to allow it to slide back and forth easily. It takes a little effort to push down the tray and hold it under the desk long enough for it to slide underneath. It also takes some effort to use the tilt slider to tilt the keyboard up and down. Most people should be able to handle this but seniors with weakness or arthritis may struggle with it.
I trust the judgment of Fellowes for the positioning, but the tilt of the keyboard takes a little adjustment as it seems to tilt the keyboard slightly upward even at it's zero setting. It gives the impression that you are reaching down to type. Southpaws will be happy to know the circular mouse platform will mount on either side of the platform. It's a nice feature as I like being able to switch sides with my mouse to help reduce the chances of carpal tunnel. The mouse platform can also be removed entirely if you are unable to meet the width requirements. You will need 29 inches of total width to fit both the keyboard and mouse platform underneath your desk. In addition, keep in mind you will need about 23 inches of width from the left edge of where the glide track is mounted to the right edge of the mouse platform (and vice-versa). If you have cabinets, a desk leg, or a computer near your planned mounting space you will need to keep this in mind.
My only gripe is with the keyboard platform which is, in my opinion, too small for today's larger keyboards. I own an old Microsoft Internet Keyboard with a few multimedia and Internet buttons at the top which fits fine in the keyboard tray, however larger, ergonomic keyboards like the Microsoft Natural or Logitech Wave don't fit as well. As an example, I have a Microsoft Wireless 6000 which is too wide to fit comfortably on the tray. I will need to remove one of the two guide tracks for the mouse pad at which point it will hang off the edge slightly. This is a disappointment to me as I figure people who buy this item are concerned about ergonomics and may likely have one of these larger keyboards. For this reason I'm knocking off a star. Just keep in mind you will likely have problems if you have a keyboard longer than 12 inches or wider than 18-1/2 inches. A keyboard no longer than nine inches is ideal.
Most desks built today seem stuck in the last century so a good, ergonomic keyboard tray is a must. As long as you meet these dimensional requirements, both for the guide track and the keyboard, you will have a solid, well-built keyboard tray that I expect will last you many years.

Fellowes Designer Suites Desk Ready Keyboard Drawer (CRC80383) Review

Fellowes Designer Suites Desk Ready Keyboard Drawer (CRC80383)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Yesterday I purchased this keyboard drawer from a local merchant. Lower price here from seller other than amazon, but shipping so exorbitant, it was less expensive to buy locally.
Set up went well. Instructions were decipherable. The unit seems sturdy enough. It's quite large, taking up more desk width than its stated dimensions. The suspension mechanism causes it to need almost 34 inches side to side. The exterior width of the drawer itself is 28 inches. The interior width of the well of the tray, where the keyboard and mouse lie, is 25 1/2 inches. The well's depth is 10 inches.
My microsoft 4000 ergonomic keyboard fits easily into the width of the drawer and there's plenty of space for the mouse. My ergo keyboard depth is a bit long for the interior well of the drawer. The ergo keyboard's depth is 10 1/2 inches at its deepest. This was easily worked around, by placing a foam wrist rest under the far edge of the ergo keyboard, another under the close edge. I'm finding that when I'm typing, I pull the ergo keyboard a bit closer to me, so that its close edge is lying upon the foam wrist rest of the Fellowes drawer, all the way at its nearest edge.
The built in mouse pad is okay. It's fine for my apple optical mouse. The width and depth of the mouse area is larger than the tray of the keyboard drawer that this Fellowes drawer replaces. And I don't have to reach lower for the mouse as its on the same level as the keyboard.
So I think this keyboard drawer is a pretty good product. I can live with its extra wide dimension, as I didn't need to be filling screw holes and drilling new holes in the underside of my computer desk. The runner mechanism of the drawer as I slide it toward and away from me feels pretty smooth. Nothing that would suggest problems in the immediate future.
