The desk arrived very well packaged. The left and right sides are separate and are screwed together on each side of the drawer. The desktop is then screwed into place. The piece is substantial, the finish beautiful, though a sticker was placed on the finish that has taken some time to remove. I think it was meant to go underneath the cabinet and placed on the cabinet itself. Construction was easy enough for this 50 year old woman to do it with help only positioning the top.
The desk only has one cable management outlet, so getting power into the left side is an issue. Also, hiding the cables for the monitor and the speakers that sit on top of the desk was a problem. The one hole for cables was only to get the keyboard and mouse attached in the drawer. The drawer is not wide enough to house the keyboard and mouse side by side, but you can pull the mouse forward and type with the keyboard set back a bit. I resolved the issue of the cable management by getting desk grommets from Lowe's and drilling one hole in the top center of the desk and one in the bottom of the left cabinet. I can store a power strip in the cabinet, running its cable out through the bottom hole. My lamp, speakers, and monitor all feed through the desktop grommet into the original hole in the side of the left cabinet.
This is a beautiful addition to my office and since I needed a keyboard tray to alleviate tendonitis, I think it will work very well in the long run. My husband's concern was the heat that may build up in the computer compartment. I'll have to keep an eye on that.
