(More customer reviews)Although the tray is plastic the rails are metal and it seems sturdy. The product provides a reasonably firm surface. The installation was easy with a power screwdriver drill bit - there are a lot of wood screws to install as one would expect and sturdiness demands they go in all the way. The mouse tray slides out from beneath the keyboard tray and has a nice fabric pad on it rather than the rubbery stuff that degrades quickly.
