It's actually long enough to span the length of my dell keyboard, plus hang over enough to use with the mouse as well. I need to get another for the office because after just a couple hours I can feel my wrists start to hurt from resting on the hard desk. But I often sit for 10 or more hours straight working at home, and never feel discomfort with the gel rest. It's also really easy to clean unlike the ones that have fabric on them, and that's important to me with two young kids and a husband that use it too. I also find the fabric ones starts to irritate my skin from the constant friction against the rough fabric, and that's completely eliminated with this one.
