Horrid product: cheaply made, a head that reminds one of something found on the sidewalk, soft steel points, not very sharp to begin with, blunt after just a few uses. After these came, in a frenetic search, I finally found my old box of pins: "Moore" pins is the name, not "Gem" or "Advantus" (now there is a name that should have warned me off). Compared to "Moore Push Pins" these things are an abject failure. Sorry I ordered them, not really worth returning - I'll donate them to the local Salvation Army store. And, now, it is off to order the "right stuff" - the Moore's do come in 100's, just that Amazon & its partners only carry 20's. Try an artists' supply store for the large boxes.

These are the right pins for tough jobs and they won't quit where standard 3/8" plastic topped pins won't do. Here's why and when I choose these:
1] Like the standard pins, you get 100 push pins!
2] OK, there are no pretty colors, but these aluminum tops won't crack if you have to push the pin into something harder than a bulletin board such as plywood or pegboard the way a plastic top may.
3] Just like there more civilized cousins, the little plastic colorful pins, these brutes come in a nice transparent case so they are contained and you won't end up sticking yourself in the finger when you are looking for pins in your desk drawer.
4] The points easily pierce almost anything except metal and the holes are small enough to be painted over later if you remove the pin.
5] They work easily and are easily removed and reused. Again, unlike their tame plastic little cousins they are almost indestructible -- A FOREVER PIN!
Getting 100 of these in a hard container for about 6 dollars costs about 6 times more than the cute, colorful, little 3/8" steel-tipped plastic topped pins. Having said that, when you need to hang a thick and/or heavy object and you need to insert push pins into a semi-hard surface these push pins are godsends.
